The MXL family of displays and data loggers are plug and play compatible with all AEM engine management systems. The AEM system must have firmware version 1.19 or higher for it to recognize the MXL. The MXL connects to the AEM units via a serial RS-232 connection.

Pure Performance Plug and Play
By connecting one harness between the MXL and the AEM controller, the MXL can display and record RPM, boost (engine load / MAP), throttle position (TPS), air and water temperatures, battery voltage, speed, gear, 2 lambda (fuel/air ratio) channels and 2 error channels. The plug and play protocol enables the MXL to access all of this data directly from the AEM ECU. This enables you to make a simplified, easy and fast install. It also opens up the full capabilities of the MXL system, as you now have 8-12 additional inputs available. With additional sensors on these input channels, you might measure oil and fuel pressure, EGT, oil temperature, fuel level, extra wheel speeds, tire temperatures, suspension activity, steering or brake positions and much more.

Street Smarts
All MXL models feature 6 configurable alarm lights and 10 configurable shift lights keep you informed at all times. The display itself is customizable, with a graphical RPM bar and numeric RPM display, configurable data display areas, gear display and custom text display area that can be tied to the alarm lights. The wide, stylish display looks great in any vehicle and will turn heads wherever you go. The MXL retains data even when the power is off, and has an Auto-Power off feature to preserve the battery life.

On The Right Track
For racers, the MXL Pista and MXL Pro 2005 incorporate a fully featured data logging sysem into the display. A fully featured lap timer includes such innovations as predictive lap timing and segment/split timing. A lateral G sensor in the MXL Pista and MXL Pro ceates a map of the track when you download the data to your PC, enabling you to match up RPMs, gear positions and other data to exact track positions to fine tune your driving. By adding brake position sensors, for example, you can monitor driving behavior and actually see where on the track the driver is braking, and how much braking is applied. This is invaluable for driver training.
The MXL Pista and Pro also incorporate CAN technology enabling them to connect with other AiM Sports expansion modules and products. The MXL Pista and Pro are self-contained data logger that acquire data from all connected sources 50 - 500 times a second (depending on sensor and input type).
