Most MyChron3's Already Have the Oval Firmware Update
If you purchased your MyChron3 since 2003, or have a recent firmware update on your MyChron3, then you likely already have the Oval Kart firmware update on your gauge. Here's how to find out:
Step 1) Check the version of firmware on your gauge. Simply power up your gauge and watch the opening screens.
If the firwmare number is 3.03 or higher then you already have the Oval Kart firmware loaded and do not need a download. All you need to do is activate Oval mode. Go to step 2 below to activate Oval mode.
If your firmware number is below 3.03, then you need to download the latest MyChron3 Firmware update (see MyChron3 Firmware Updates below). Follow the directions below the update section ("How Do I Get the Firmware?"). Once you have the firmware loaded into your MyChron3, go to step 2 below to activate Oval mode.
If the screen says "Oval Firmware" then the firmware is loaded AND activated. You are ready to race!
Step 2) Activate the Oval Kart Firmware. To put your gauge into Oval mode: turn the gauge on, and as soon as it begins to power on, depress the "MEM" and > buttons at the same time and keep them depressed for a couple of seconds. This will then put the gauge in the Oval mode. Use the same process to switch back to regular mode. Important note: switching modes will clear any current data in the gauge. Download your data before switching modes. To switch back to regular mode, follow the same procedure.
