MyChron Light TG LOG: Overview

Supermoto Racer magazine features AiM Sports TG Log on TOKYOMODS CRF450R. [Read more] Photo courtesy of SMR.
The MyChron Light TG LOG is a high performance data acquisition system for motorcycles, mini and micro sprints that combines a temperature gauge, tachometer, speedometer, lap timer, and data logger into a compact unit that easily mounts to your cycle’s handlebars. It is a digital dash, gauge, and data logger with a pixel-based fully configurable display that can show RPM, lap times, temperatures, speeds and more. The lap timing features are based upon the extensive features found in the MyChron Light TG lap timer.

The MyChron Light TG LOG is the perfect introduction to the world of data acquisition, featuring a core set of features, performance and value that is unmatched in today’s market. AiM Sports’ engineering team specifically designed the MyChron Light TG LOG for motorcycle racers who are serious about measuring and improving their performance. The TG Log is equally at home with Mini Sprint racers and other motorcycle engine-powered vehicles.

Powerful Data Acquisition Streamlined

The TG Log is designed for motorcycle engines, with a fixed configuration that meets most racing situations and simplifies installation. The system consists of a display unit (typically mounted up on the handlebars) and a junction box that connects to the sensors: temperature (exhaust or water), RPM, wheel speed and throttle position. There is also an optical receiver for the lap timing system.

Use as much or as little of the TG Log's capabilities as you need. Simply monitor lap times and peak RPMs from lap to lap, or compare RPMs across an entire session to optimize gearing. Compare RPMs, temps and lap times across several laps to find the best driving line. Add in the data from the TPS and wheel speed sensor for even more detail.

How It Works

Connect sensors to the MyChron Light TG LOG and it displays, samples, and stores the data from those sensors. For example, you can connect a temperature sensor to your engine and get continuous reads on your engine temperature. See the temperature values on the display as you drive, and download the recorded data to your PC and review the numbers on a graph later on. AiM Sports uses sophisticated data acquisition technologies in the MyChron Light TG LOG to make this process fast, accurate, reliable and cost-effective.

The MyChron Light TG LOG is a true data logger that acquires data from all connected sources 10 times a second. Using our powerful Race Studio 2 software (optional) you can download your data to your PC and get a professional analysis of your performance data. You can also replay the data on the TG Log display without a PC or software. The MyChron Light TG LOG features 8 MB of memory, capable of storing over 10,000 laps of data (or 24 hours of continuous recording). The memory is non-volatile, retaining any data in memory even when the power is off. A comprehensive database management system ensures proper organization of your data for easy and accurate access.

The Display: Big, Bold and a thing of Beauty

The advanced pixel-based display uses fonts visible with 20/20 vision at 40 feet. Combined with a display angle of +/- 45 degrees, and you've got a display that cannot be missed - no matter how fast you're going. The display will astonish you with its brilliance and clarity.

Now You See Them - Now You Don't

Smart menus and button labels change as needed for ease of use. Our design and usability experts have spent hundreds of hours studying and designing display layouts to ensure drivers have just what they need, and nothing more to clutter things up.

Make it Your Own

A pixel-based display means you can customize the display however you like, including the display of custom graphics, logos and images. The 128 x 64 pixel display is 2.4" x 1.3" (61 x 31 mm). Upload your team logo to display every time the TG LOG starts up.

Lap Times Leveraged

The MyChron Light TG LOG includes an integrated Clock and Calendar that puts an indelible time and date stamp on every lap of every session, so you have a solid performance data archive. You also attach a track names to laps. Compare lap times on the same track from month to month, year to year.

Split Personality

When used with dedicated optical beacons, you can have up to 5 split times.  The MyChron Light TG LOG manages split times in three ways: Accumulative, Variation, and Sector.  Accumulative Split Time shows the total time elapsed at the split.  Variation Split Time shows the difference (variation) between the current split time and the previous split time. Sector Split Time shows the time for each split (sector) as you go.

Session Modes

Choose the session mode that fits: Lap, Qualify or Race Mode. The default mode is Lap, which shows an incremental lap counter. Qualify mode displays the remaining time until the end of the session. Race mode shows how many laps remain in the race.
