One Lap of America

The One Lap of America series is on this week. Inspired by and somewhat related to the infamous "Cannonball Run", the One Lap of America sees a group of street legal cars traveling around the country (well, the east and midwest, really) racing at a variety of tracks. Today they raced at VIR. See the schedule at the official website.

Martin Musial of AMS Performance put together a Mitsubishi EVO 8 with an MXL Pista race data acquisition system for the race, and they are ripping up the track. They are first in their class (Mid Price Sedan) and 8th overall out of a field of 88. Martin and his team built the EVO for time attack racing and has an MXL Pista installed for data logging.

Tony Swan of Car and Driver has a series of journal entries about the event; Autoblog also has a great write up. The Kicker/Lake Effect Racing team web site has some great videos, including the Lancer EVO 8 at No Problem Raceway in Lousiana, and an annotated video from Roebling Road.
